(2) Book II and Book III contain reproductions of photos from a "scrapbook" assembled after the war by my maternal grandfather, and selected photos / documents from the collection of Lupton Kaylor, both of whom were members of the 8th Photographic Section, U.S. Air Service of the American Expeditionary Forces in France during 1918 and early 1919. Book II includes the diary kept by Lupton Kaylor during his service in the military from September of 1917 to April of 1919. This diary helped me sort out and understand the images from my grandfather’s collection. This particular Photographic Section was under the command of Edward J. Steichen at the Beaumont Barracks in Tours. Images of the HQ Photo Lab in Tours, the Photo Lab at the 2nd Aviation Instruction Center near Tours, France, images at various locales in Tours, the "Mobile Photo Labs" used by this group, selected aerial plates and photos from a collection documenting General Pershing's arrival in France in June of 1917 are also included. The addition of images and text put the page count over 440 pages of the original 10 x 8 Edition II, resulting in a split into Books II and III. 10 x 8 Book I, not recently updated and made available, contains just the highlights of both books.
