About the Book
The book details artist Fran Schanz, born 1945, living in Erie, Pennsylvania. Schanz, with a BFA in painting from Mercyhurst College and a MFA in three dimensional art from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, has proven to be one of the areas most imaginative and prolific artists. Follow Fran from his beginning through his US Army duty in Vietnam and his exhibits in NYC and elsewhere to his one-man shows during his senior years.
"Fran Schanz: Heart of Art" and "Fran Schanz: Select Drawings" are two recent books about artist Schanz. "Roy Ahlgren: Catalogue Raisonne" and "Roy Ahlgren: Hard Edge Paintings & Op Art Serigraphs: 1965-1988" are my third and second books, respectively. In 2005, I and Albrecht Associates published Courage and Innovation, a 150 page historical book about Lord Corporation. The volume was heavily illustrated and oversize in dimension and contained much content and opinion from the company's and Jura Corporation's then Chairman, Donald Alstadt. Hagle retired from Lord Corporation in 2002 after 37 years of service in a variety of technical and communication management positions. He holds an MFA degree in visual communications from Syracuse University and has taught at Mercyhurst College where he also served as director of the college's Cummings Art Gallery. He is a USAF veteran and currently lives and writes in Erie, Pennsylvania and Wilmington, North Carolina.
