About the Book
This is the story of her becoming.
A historical vampire epic.
The early 1900s.
Erika Renais has certain abilities and appetites. As she moves from France to London across the ocean and to a new world, she meets those who influence her and help her to answering the questions that have plagued her:
Why is she different?
What is her purpose?
And who is truly innocent?
Answering these questions through the events of her life, she grows into her powers, her role in life, and ultimately her place in history.
A sweeping epic that takes the viewer through a morass of different worlds and cultures, from a cobblestoned London sanatorium to earthquake-ravaged San Francisco to a beautiful coastal lumber town to a small native Pomo tribe, and in so doing, tells a vampire origin story like none other.
Vijay Rajan and Elisabeth Evans began working together in 2011. During this year, he read her short story "Rain of Fire." Inspired by the historical aspects he could add to the tale -- an unusual and atypical gothic horror story that combined both a traditional vampire with the modern idea of a psychic vampire -- he decided to undertake the adaptation. The result was this screenplay, the first feature-length collaboration between the two writers. The two, having found an incredible creative connection, hope to continue to work together for quite some time.
