My son was diagnosed in utero with Tetralogy of Fallot, a type of Congenital Heart Disease. After two open heart surgeries and a lot of time in the hospital he is now a happy, vibrant child with a bright future ahead of him. Like many other children that have Congenital Heart Disease, my son was left with a scar on his chest from his surgeries. To me it resembles a spot where a zipper might have once been and it was the inspiration for this book. Everyday it reminds me what truly special little creatures they all are.
Growing up reading authors like Seuss, Silverstein and Dahl created a lasting place in my heart for stories that were amazingly imaginative, unusually silly, and always leaving the reader a little wiser about the world around them.
