When I began drawing London, most High Streets contained dining rooms, artistic florists, fruit and veg. merchants; grocers, cash chemists and haberdashers. You will find 45 illustrations of the shops, pubs and cafes in pen and watercolour from that earlier time.

I am a London-based Australian artist and illustrator. At various times in my career I have made portraits; been a writer and illustrator of books for children; specialised in depicting the street life and architecture of the East End of London; I am currently interested in recording my London life. I am also fascinated by Noir which for me encompasses all sorts of photographs - Weegee, Brassai, the photographs from the police department of Sydney, NSW & the contents of Flickr (which is just the greatest invention). My interest includes the neo realist European cinema of the late l940s as well as the Hollywood output of the same period. I love good stories and products from that age of anxiety of the l940s and l950s. Cheers.
