In 2008 I travelled through Mali, one of the 5 poorest countries in the world. I was deeply impressed by its people and their culture. Most of the kids don't wear shoes - because they have none - but during my whole journey I did not hear one kid crying or complaining.
Most of the photos were taken in Djénné, in the Mopti area and in the so called Dogon country, where the animistic tribe of the Dogon still live, but now are converting into muslims step by step. Unfortunately travelling to Mali has become impossible for the moment.
