A tour of Brooklyn through the vibrant paintings of self-taught artist Ivan Koota. Koota was born in Brooklyn and spent his childhood and early adult years living there. All of his work draws upon both his personal experiences of Brooklyn as well as the Brooklyn of his parents. His primary focus is the colorful atmosphere of Brooklyn's neighborhoods and the daily life of its people. He is also drawn to well-known sites and places such as "Downtown", Coney Island, and, of course, the Dodgers. His book is a trip worth taking whether you came from Brooklyn or are a "Brooklynite" by heart.
I am a retired Pediatrician born in Brooklyn in 1939. I now live and paint in upstate New York. .
