I have visited National Parks and have walked an ocean beach. I have hiked the Rocky Mountains and have lived in the heart of a city with millions of people and skyscrapers that are triumphs of modern man. But I’ve yet to see anything, anywhere as beautiful as a horizon uncluttered, a frosted fence line or a herd of cattle serenely grazing in fog.
I am from rural America. I am fortunate enough to have direct access to life as few Americans know it- slow, dull and lacking in polish. Each time I lift a camera my hope is that I can convey to busy, shiny, exciting metropolitan America how much I appreciate what we have to ourselves out here.
All images in this book were captured between August 2005 and December 2006 while standing on one of the thousands of miles of dirt roads across Kansas and Nebraska.
