A STUDY IN COLOUR
The theatre is a lake in Regent's Park London; the actors are waterfowl;
the stage is the water surface on which they behave.
The play is produced by Nature: the actors are dressed in the showy plumage of their breeding season; the stage is illuminated at sunrise on frosty winter days, creating brilliant reflections of sky and flora.
The story is told in 70 beautiful plates each of which creates chromatic harmony between a bird's plumage and its aquatic environment.
