This book is dedicated to the memory of the United States Marines, who sailed in Tulare, and gave their lives. Let their sacrifice not be forgotten. "Remembering Tulare", chronicles the life a U.S. Navy Amphibious Cargo ship, from commissioning in San Francisco to destruction in Brownsville, Tx. Tulare was an active participaint during the Vietnam war era. She was not glamorous but she and her crew worked hard in support of our Nation. A glimpse into Tulare's history and who sailed in her.

Ed Mersich, enlisted in the USN in January 1964. After a year’s training he was assigned to the Amphibious Attack Cargo ship USS Tulare, AKA-112. Mersich was trained as a shipboard electrician and served in various roles; shipboard and boat electrical systems maintenance, power generation and distribution. Mersich was discharged from active duty in 1968.
