Mugino is a computer security specialist by day, avid foodie by night. Even though her kitchen is one of the smallest rooms in the house, she spends the bulk of her time there, playing with her food. Trolling farmer's markets, ogling cookbooks, discovering new restaurants and rolling home with a satisfied belly are among her favourite pastimes. As is the case for most people, Mugino's formative lessons in cooking came from watching her mother. Later culinary influences include Jacques Pepin, Julia Child, James Beard, Heston Blumenthal, Fergus Henderson and copious episodes of Iron Chef Japan. Everything else she knows about cookery comes from friends.
