How not to cross
the line
given by choice
of hopes.

How not to pretend
falls and tears.

How not to miss hallelujahs
under driest eyelids.

I don't know how to be.

PAPER SOULS

Through words we breath.
We forget and celebrate.
We pray and regret.
We reverse.

Through words we love.
We lie and forgive.
We bite and pretend.

And stay in-betweens.
Over and over again.

Through words we become.
Rubber flies, rein streaking clocks
statists wrapped in frozen sheets.

Anything. Everything.
Or nothing at times.

Through words we see.
Caged birds, crushed reasons,
babies with hiccups
and homeless furniture.

Through words we are.
