About the Book
This book is an extraordinary photographic journey through a small part of Southeastern Alaska focusing on the Stikine River, Frederick Sound, Anan Creek, and the LeConte Glacier and Bay. It provides dramatic portraits of brown and black bears, salmon, eagles, whales, icebergs, glaciers, the Stikine River and surrounding Coast Mountain Range as well as life in the island town of Wrangell where the author was based.
Ron has worked with wildlife for over 30 years and has had the privilege of having hands-on experience with a tremendous variety of animals ranging from crocodiles to eagles to cheetahs. As Miami Metrozoo's "Goodwill Ambassador," he has made frequent television appearances on many programs including "National Geographic Explorer," the "Today Show," "Late Night With David Letterman," "Dateline," and "CNN," in addition to a wide variety of programming on the Discovery Networks and the Spanish networks such as Univision. In addition, he has written and produced many wildlife articles and award-winning photographs that have appeared in galleries and publications around the world. He has traveled extensively throughout Africa, India, and Tropical America while developing and directing award-winning conservation projects and television documentaries focusing on the wildlife of those regions. Ron is a dedicated Nikon user who relies on a D3 and D2Xs along with a variety of Nikon lenses.
