About the Book
This small publication serves two purposes. On the one hand, it showcases the participants of Portfolio 12, PhotoIreland’s International Portfolio Review. Thus, it contains their works and contact information, as well as the reviewer profiles.
On the other hand, this is a collection of materials, that will be interesting for many people, even if they have been prepared originally for the reviewers and participants of our event. The book contains useful hints from specialists in the field of photography,
as well as interviews around contemporary photography practice.
The double functionality of the book is also reflected in its structure: In part one, you will find texts and images from each of the 45 participating artists, whereas part two consists of interviews and statements.
Presenting a unique opportunity for emerging artists worldwide to showcase their new photographic projects and meet with international professionals, PhotoIreland Festival’s international portfolio review weekend takes place from 13-15 July 2012 at Moxie Studios in Dublin city. While the reviews are private one-on-one consultations, the general public is invited to meet and engage with the participants in an informal way. All the works will be showcased in a projection at the opening event.
This year, the 45 participants come from over 20 countries, such as Japan, Mexico, Canada, Australia, Russia, United States, the Netherlands, Portugal, the Philippines, Finland, Lithuania, Greece, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, and, of course, Ireland. The reviewer list includes curators, gallery owners, festival directors, publishers and other international photography professionals.
