Joël Durand received his first camera when he was 9 years old. His first photo, the headlight of a "2 chevaux" on a street of his native France, was out of focus. He hasn't stopped taking pictures since, except when he's been writing music. He is currently Professor of Composition at the University of Washington School of Music, Seattle (USA).
