About the Book
Very few people have heard of the Acores, a small volcanic archipelago off the coast of Portugal. It is situated along the Mid-Atlantic Ridge about 1,500 km from Lisbon, Portugal and about 3,900 km from the east coast of North America. The island chain is made up of 9 islands, the largest being São Miguel and the smallest being Corvo. There is a population of 240,000 living amongst the 9 islands. Only 5,000 of those live on the island featured in this book, Santa Maria.
