In nature there is no such thing as imperfect balance, everything has it’s time, it’s place, its purpose the continuing function of the planet.
Man in the last 150 years, since the start of the industrial revolution has been hellbent on upsetting that balance
and has had some success. But fear not nature will prevail eventually, because balance is continuous, with no exceptions – it’s just a matter of time.
My time, over the past decade has been spent, almost solely, in the pursuit of the creative balancing of stones. The catalyst, a period of dark times and solitude, was to inspire in me an original concept, to build, from naturally weathered rocks and stones balanced in a state
of equilibrium, sculptures that have an improbable composition and simplistic beauty.
For me it’s the simplicity of my work that makes it magical and upon this discovery I have been instilled with a perseverance with one aim – to create art that inspires a sense of wonder.
Andrew Blackmore has been interested in photography for as long as he can remember. Over the past three decades he has seldom travelled anywhere without a camera and relishes the prospect of being able to capture images from a variety of subjects - whenever and wherever. Although preferring not to be labelled as specialising in a specific field, his interests are firmly based in portraying the immense diversity of our natural world. To this end, his images help to inspire a higher awareness of nature’s unique qualities - helping to increase our interest and respect for generations to come. He also has an eye for the abstract and the unusual; snapshots of inspiration that catch the eye. In addition, Andrew has been an Apple based designer for the past sixteen years, and this combination of tools provide results that reflect his extensive experience and knowledge.
