Fred Windisch Surf Photography from the 1960's: San Francisco, Santa Cruz, Pacifica, & Oregon.

A remarkable artist and filmmaker, Fred celebrated the art of surfing with his creativity and inventive spirit. Fred was just 18-21 years old when he took these photos, offering a rare and personal glimpse into what life was like as the sport was just beginning to take off in San Francisco, Pacifica, Santa Cruz and Oregon. His photographs, years ahead of their time, capture more than a sport–they capture a way of life.

This collection of 189 photos was brought to life by Helen Windisch and designed by Laura Windisch.

Fred also produced three videos: The Natural Art (1969), City Slikker
(1974) and Tam Jam. His unique vision and love for surfing live on through these videos, photographs, and in our memories.

Hi there Laura! This book is really beautiful! My dad is on pages 85 and 149 - John Myers. He grew up right around the corner from 43rd and Wawona. Also went to Lincoln HS - I think class of '65. Thanks for putting this together. I am going to try to get to see the photos at the club too.
