Fashion Art Walls (the 2012 edition)
An Art Basel 2012 Art Project
by Tomas Loewy
Ebook, Apple iPad format
About the Book
I started a one year photo/fashion/art project from Art Basel Miami Beach 2011 to Art Basel 2012; planning (and executing) an art show of the best images during Art Basel 2012, photographing different fashion designer's creations in front of Miami's amazing Wynwood walls.
Realizing that many walls I used as backgrounds were overpainted during the next Art Basel I decided to continue the project into the future.
The series will become a coffee table book in 2017 with the summary/overview/selection of the most amazing FashionArtWalls.
With Wynwood changing dramatically (many walls ,disappearing', converted to glass displays, a.k.a. storefronts; but many other walls in the more remote and less visited parts of Wynwood being added) the time is ripe to celebrate Wynwood's past (as recent as it might be), present and showcase it's future.
Another explosion of ArtWalls is painted during every Art Basel season; many are added in places where there had been none, more than making up for the space lost to stores, breweries, bars and restaurants, showing that they all can coexist in this neighborhood. (At least for now) commerce fuels art, and art fuels commerce.

Tomas Loewy was born in Prague, grew up in Buenos Aires, Munich, New York. Moving to Miami equaled vision, optimism, creativity. Based on his international background in journalism, television, film & online, Tomas found his visual expression, molding images with a love for moments, situations, time lapse, detail and human emotions. Part of this 'just-like-being-there' visual blend comes from the refusal to be content with the comfortable life most people lead. The right combination of stability and lack thereof is a personal choice: at different times draining, provoking, challenging, exhilarating. His visual installations express emotions & impact others by showing facets of life with a like-being-there point of view the viewer would not encounter without seeing these images.
