Filthy Smut and Other Bedtime Stories is the debut book of poetry by Binghamton, NY poet Christopher M.F. Bodnarczuk. A collection of 26 poems, Bodnarczuk focuses on the seedy side of things, drawing an uncomfortable amount of inspiration from his own life. Bodnarczuk's prose style of poetry is meant to paint a blunt picture of a world that is not made up of flowers and puppies, but of alcohol and sex, drugs and death. He examines his own vices while exposing the veils of that which is considered pure and wholesome. Like his heroes Bukowski and Lynch, he aims to show that the suburbs are not all they are cracked up to be. Filthy Smut and Other Bedtime Stories is a book not to be missed. It is also a book not to be read without latex gloves.
