Historically Saddleworth formed part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, flanked by both Lancashire and Yorkshire with the mighty Pennines forming its eastern border. The town of Oldham lies to the West with the City of Manchester dominating its South West approaches.
The civil parish today is part of the Metropolitan Borough of Oldham within Greater Manchester and is comprised of several small villages and hamlets.
An area of both beauty and bleakness much of the landscape consists of steep valleys carved long ago by the River Tame and its tributaries flowing in from the moors of the Pennine watershed.
This book is a collection of photographs of Saddleworth captured through the four seasons. Professional photographer John Todd spent a year photographing the ever changing light and its effects on the landscape of this unique area and here presents a selection of some favourite images.

A beautiful set of photographs that tell a story. So nice we are holding an exhibition of pieces from the book here at our art gallery in Northern California. Exhibition opens October 2, 2009 at the Red Bluff Art Gallery.
