From June 5 until August 6, 2008, Nigel Maister and Ian Quinn embarked on an epic journey to the "Stans" and Mongolia.

Part II is a photo diary of the second part of their trip, which took them from Irkutsk, on the shores of Russia's Lake Baikal, to Mongolia, then back
through Siberia on the Trans-Siberian to catch a rare total eclipse of the sun in Barnaul (near
Novosibirsk) and finally back, via Kazakhstan's
newly minted capital, Astana, to Almaty.
