About the Book
Eva Maria (Eefje van den Hamsvoort) graduated in 1993 with a bachelor's degree from the School of Fine Art and Design St Joost in Breda. She has worked as an artist and graphic designer since.
"My art work is very diverse: portraits, landscapes and abstract work. I use different techniques for my artworks: paint, pencil, photography and mixed media. My artwork is flowing, loose, but sometimes also has a more graphic look. I try to catch a memory in an image. The memory can be related to a place I visited, to a face, to a symbol or a feeling. I like to work with different layers to shape an image, which makes it artistic and it shows it has developed over time. The aim is to create an aesthetic image which comes across to people in a pleasant and sometimes stimulating way. The artwork comes from within me but will affect someone else.It is interesting that I never know where the artwork ends up. Art is for everybody and it provides something to think about and to enjoy. I also work on request, especially portraits. I unravel a face to rebuild it in a way the soul and the essence of it become visible. Each time I deliver a portrait and I see the people are moved, I know I have touched the essence."
