Early in 2012 I did a book called “Hip Trips” which was a collection of photographs all taken from the car’s shotgun seat. Now I’m doing the opposite, a series of trip images captured from outside the car.

I’ve made pictures of gas stations, rest stops and convenience stores from Sausalito to Watsonville to Palm Springs and in-between. Gas, food and rest are the themes interspersed with new ways to look at stop signs.

Gas, the first section of the book shows how beautiful gas stations can sometimes be, especially in the right light. The Food section highlights photogenic treats. And the Rest section includes pictures of our Range Rovers, interesting looking rest stops and Tom and Lucky taking time off from the road.
