Wanganui has a wonderful set of late nineteenth and early twentieth century buildings including, with its War Memorial Hall, New Zealand's most outstanding example of 'modernist' architecture.
In the central part of the town where these photographs were taken there is a unity of scale unsullied by high rise development.
