CICELY TYSON overcame poverty, prejudice, personal opposition and abuse to become one of America's greatest actresses and The Matriarch of a School that now bears her name. In 2002, after being a fan of hers for 30 years, author Chet Jelinski met her (first of several meetings) at the Cicely Tyson School of Performing and Fine Arts near his home in New Jersey. Inspired by those personal interactions, old magazine interviews, her own movies, reliable Internet sources and what he calls his "Seventh Sense," Jelinski has written "An Unauthorized, but Appreciative first Biography of America's Principled Actress."
