The 3-line poems included in this volume tell the story of a journey. Brief meditations on life, love and longing, they record a search for illumination in a perplexing world.
The poems included herein are erroneously called haiku. They do not abide strictly to the traditional rules of the classical Japanese verse form of the same name.
But the 111 not-haikus in this volume can be seen as a diary written over 40 years, self-reflexive devices to track a life. They were authored in the USA, in Europe and in India. They are arrayed here in no chronological order, although the final 5 are the most recent entries.
The volume contains three photos by Paula Sweet.
