REFLECTIONS OF AN ARTIST A Portfolio of the Artist's Paintings
by Joan Gabauer Carver.
For an Artist or any art lover! This book "Reflections of an Artist" showcases a collection of the artist's original paintings of the water's surface and water reflections - as a portfolfio of work. These paintings represent a collection titled "Reflections Series". Joan paints with passion, pours her love onto the canvas, and uses her unique talents to merge the colors with the touch of a brushstroke! Along with the dazzling paintings there is a glimpse into the artists life, her art studio, her creativity and her favorite inspiring quotes.

I owned, operated and taught at my own Art School for 18 yrs. in Charlotte, North Carolina before transferring to Florida. As an award winning artist, I stay involved in many juried art shows and exhibits. My work can be seen in many galleries through out the south. I am currently working on a book on my experiences teaching art, and lessons for teachers to use in the art room. Because I have taught for so many years, I do various types of painting. My favorite is oils, although I still use acrylics, and continue to paint on silk. Water acts as a conduit for my creativity. Reflections and the play of light on water captivates me. Surroundings that I love will find their way into my paintings. Environment is the inspiration that I use for my subjects and palette, therefore color and light play a huge part in the theme of my artwork, giving it an impressionistic, almost contemporary, style.
