Northern Italy is one of the richest treasure houses of Italian art and architecture. The area covered from Milan to just north of Rome includes the great cities that were at the heart of the Italian Renaissance. Informative captions accompanying the photographs will give the reader background to the places and objects illustrated. Knowing the stories and background information concerning places and objects brings them to life and adds to their fascination. Sometimes one is looking at a significant place or object in the history of the nation or in European art or culture.
The photographs in this book were taken in the course of eight visits to the region between 1981 and 2005. All have been scanned from 35 mm or 6 x 6 inch colour print or colour transparency film.
Leonard Ferguson has been a keen amateur photographer for over thirty years. His particular interests are landscape and architectural photography.
