OFFICE PLANTS. In the winter months, returning home from the university studios, my eyes were opened up by things that had always been there. In office spaces, lit up at night, devoid of workers, other shapes and forms began to emerge through a different kind of window display. Plants repeatedly appeared as if in desk top or foyer miniature winter garden settings. Through opaqued, clear and dirt splattered glass frontages, sometimes as if returned to the mist of the forest or jungle, lit by artificial and natural sources, these plants began to return a gaze. I kind of developed a sort of office fetish, minus the people, as I looked forward to the next 'encounter'.

This photo book, from an ongoing related photo and video series made in London, explores these organisms, their everyday yet passed by beauty. Examining their connected whimsical life-force and the atmospheres of the corporate habitats they dwell in.

This is my first solo book project, in previous works, people are often the performative focus, here I wanted the city plants to be the stars. Ever greens in eternal city light.

Please note: an updated edition of this book has now been completed, from an earlier test version that previewed here, and is now available (March 2013).
