This is an exhibition catalog of the late work of Abbott Handerson Thayer (1849-1921), the renowned early American naturalist painter. The paintings and drawings in this catalog detail how Thayer's love and observation of nature led to his discovery of early camouflage concepts, which he employed during WWI to aid the Allied countries. Pulling from the collection of the artist's family estate and trust, the works range from landscape and animal studies to early camouflage designs for military uniforms and navy vessels. most of which have never been exhibited before.
