A midterm project for a documentary as social critique class I took with Ken Hassell at Elon University. The book served to help organize my ideas on the 'identity' of Keith Phillips, utilizing information from weekly visits, his life story, letters, memories, photographs and articles. Phillips, the subject of my semester, wrote an autobiography beginning as a child, telling the story of how he has spent more time behind bars versus free, and how he has reached his current sentence: incarcerated for life with no parole.
