EXPERIENCES IMMATERIELLES
INTANGIBLE EXPERIENCES
An Art book (photography, installation, video). An artistic “Manifesto” questioning cultural hybridization in contemporary societies, and the ambiguous relationship between humans and the environment. Installations, performances and videos of the visual artist José MAN LIUS show phenomenological experiences with space charge of contradictory forces. And the skin turns into a color code, the sound becomes metaphoric image, the matter becomes invisible and intangible takes shape.

As a video artist, performer, photographer and designer from the French West Indies, José Man Lius questions the construction of identity, the assimilation of history and the place of the individual in an interconnected, globalized world. His roots in the Caribbean extend his investigations into aspects of “métissage” and cultural interaction through a series of artistic experiments and exploratory creative gestures.
In a voluntarily unstructured space, the intersection of his films, photos, performances, sculptures and objects creates a matrix of phenomenological experience. Here we are invited to explore the components and puzzle of this cultural and spiritual brew, questioning the links that can weave together art, nature, intangible heritage, shamanic phenomena, and the numerous invisible forces that influence and change our perceptions.
