About the Book
The market and culture of publishing are facing radical changes, pushing us to question what makes a book what it is.
This research explores the book as an object, as a carrier of symbolic meaning and a specific aura, and finally as an image. What does the dematerialization of books — ebooks are images made of light — mean?
After exploring these issues a proposal is formulated: a concept and a business model for a new bookstore. The renassaince typographic workshop is taken as a reference and through the integration of tradition and new technological means an alternative paradigm of production, sale and consumption is envisioned.
