About the Book
This publication came as a result of the completion of the project «a Lebanese notebook; AntiParadise» by Demetris Koilalous. The Museum of Photography of Thessaloniki commissioned the photographer Demetris Koilalous to photograph contemporary Lebanon as part of the project «Thessaloniki cultural crossroads» which was initiated in 2011 by the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
Most of the photographs included in this publication were exhibited in the Museum of Photography of Thessaloniki between March the 2nd and May the 20th 2012, in the group exhibition "Oriented and Disoriented in the Middle East (Part A) - Photographic missions by the Museum of Photography of Thessaloniki".
Born in Athens in 1962 and studied Town and Country Planning and Geography in Edinburgh and London. Since 1990 lives in Athens and works as a professional photographer, specialising in theatre, portrait and advertising photography. Since 2005 has been teaching photography in private and public institutions and in the adult education programmes of the Greek American Educational Institute, where -in 2008- he founded with his students the ‘SYMPLIGADA’ photography group. Over the last 10 years he has been involved in various photographic projects including, «the route of mastic», «déjà vu», «utopia-dystopia», «suddenly last summer...» and «Growth». His most recent project « a Lebanese notebook; Antiparadise» which has been privately published in blurb, was commissioned by the museum of photography of Thessaloniki and was exhbited in Thessaloniki and PhotoMed festival in 2012.
