About the Book
This large format edition of Rick's Land is being issued to honor the 16th anniversary of Yellowstone Park Geologist Rick Hutchinson's tragic death in an avalanche near the Heart Lake Geyser Basin. It was a great loss for his family, friends, and all of Yellowstone! The full 8 x 10 images of Yellowstone make a stunning 'coffee table' book!
I was born in Chicago, but have lived in Idaho for more than 35 years. This has given me the opportunity to explore the mountains and rivers of the American West. Whether hiking, rafting, or touring by car, I have always brought my camera along to capture the scenic wonders along the way. My home in Idaho Falls gives me the privilege of having Yellowstone National Park as my 'home field'. Yellowstone is a world-class site for both wildlife and geological features. The national park preserves the heart of the Yellowstone country in Wyoming, but the effects of the great Yellowstone volcanic system extend across Idaho and on into Montana. Many of my best photos and favorite memories originate in the greater Yellowstone region, and I hope to share them with as many people as possible.
