About the Creator
Melanie Pyke Hertzog grew up in Oswego, N.Y. and summered as a child in the 1000 Islands with her family. She earned undergraduate degrees in Art/Social Work and Forestry. After completing her MSW, she spent 30 years as family therapist with children, adults and families in Binghamton, NY. Around the edges of work and family life, Melanie continued her artwork, completing pet portrait commissions in oils and acrylics. Her photography of the 1000 Islands has won awards in upstate NY and Canada. Melanie & her husband now live year-round on Wellesley Island, where Melanie sells her art and photography at area galleries and through her website: riverlifeart.com.
