Turkey, which sits between the Black Sea, the Agean Sea and the Mediterranean has a wonderful climate that shows in theour photos off its outstanding scenery and geography. We loved the extraordinary history, years of trade and transport making it a rich and vibrant multicultural environment. The people are a diverse mixture of ethnic origins and all over we encountered sensational arts, music and food unique to the region and extremely friendly people.
Anatolia is the birthplace of many civilizations, empires, historic figures and legends - but then there was Ephesus, Pergamon, Cappadocia. Turkey can certainly boast that it has the most archaeological sites in the world.
Shopping and eating were a highlight for us in Turkey. The Markets are an assault on all our senses - full of spices, pottery, lamps, carpets and jewellery. The food was as good as we've had anywhere. It was cheap, fresh and plentiful being a lovely fusion of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern dishes. Spectacular is the word we use to describe our 2 weeks there - in every sense.
