A non-technical guide to 52 common genera of mosses and liverworts found in the southeastern U.S. Seventy-five species are illustrated in 210 full color photographs. Text includes description of habitat, size, and distinguishing characters. The range in magnification in the photographs aims to make this a practical field guide that does not require the observation of microscopic characters.

I wasn't sure, from the title, how applicable to my area (GA Piedmont, i.e. Atlanta, Athens, etc.) the book would be, and was delighted after ordering a copy to find that most of the space was devoted to widely distributed and common genera, rather than focusing on rarities found in the Cherokee NF. The color photographs make it a great introduction for plant lovers curious about this relatively arcane group within the Plant Kingdom (due to their diminutiveness)..
