The abstract nature of This Is Me Saying Goodbye is a visual rendition of my psychosocial inner world during the journey of mystery, pleasure and collapse of emotions within a past relationship. This array of experienced mental states was aesthetically documented using a stream-of-consciousness photographic manner, beautifully abstracting once everyday sights. The photographs are purposely abstracted as if they were ‘after-images’; an optical illusion of an image continuing to appear in one’s vision after the exposure to the original image has ceased, in this case, after the relationship has ceased. As my emotions have acclimated to a new beginning, this project is complete in its form; marking the end, an ending where I can finally close my eyes and say goodbye to the after-image of a past relationship.
