About the Book
I have made this body of work in an attempt to explore something about a person who died from cancer a year before making this book, I am told that she was very similar to a person I hold dear. Over the course of my inquiry, what I have come to know about Mary is compellingly mixed yet undoubtedly certain.
The camera and the photograph have granted me the ability to see the world as something static, quiet and tame. I have always believed that the departed live on through spirit; our memories of them and their influence on us. There is also a physical trace; the most seemingly mundane of objects become telling of their owners. Standing in their absence, these vessels bear the soul and reveal an identity; our conjecture is based upon these artefacts.
