This book is a collection of many of the sketches and paintings of my lfetime. Each has their own reason for being created in the first place. Someday I should like to write a little short story for each piece of work.
In the meantime just creating this book and it's introduction was worth so much to me emotionally.
I feel fulfilled & happy!
About the Artist Birgie (Platz, Stoll, Ludlow) I was born in Flensburg, Germany as Birgit Platz in June 1947. My parents Karin and John Platz and brother Helmut and I immigrated to Canada in 1952. In 1965 while still a student at Ancaster High & Vocational School , Malcolm Gerner was my art teacher for 5 years) I enrolled in a correspondence course with Art Instruction Schools. It was this course that gave me the drive to perhaps pursue a career in the commercial art field. There were so many possible avenues to travel. My three dreams were Fashion Design or that of a Greeting Card Artist or perhaps even a Children’s Art Teacher. In the spring of 1966 while still in grade 12, I decided to find a way to fulfill my dreams. My first interview was with a well known Burlington Fine Artist - George Barbu, owner of then Hamilton Silk Screen, a government agency gave me his name. He was kind enough to assess a large sampling of my highschool & art school work.
