At the 43rd parallel north each passing day of the fall season is shorter than the previous. Here, by the beginning of winter, daylight will be reduced by a full five and a half hours. These photographs of downtown Rochester, NY show a diminished sun forced to peek between buildings in narrow channels of stark shadow and light.
