A Salton Christmas
Visions of an Apocalyptic Sea
by Photography and Text by Thomas P. Clazie
This book is a narrative of a drive with a good friend, the day after Christmas 2012, circling the Salton Sea. The narrative is accompanied with a liberal selection of photographs taken that day. It is the author/photographer's hope (and belief) that the text and photography complement each other and that neither communicative form becomes so heavy handed so as to detract from the other. Any errors in factual content are the sole responsibility of the author.
Little can be said about the author that has not already been ignored countless times before by those who know him best. He resides against his will in Southern California's Inland Empire, but does count as blessings his very patient, supportive wife - Melissa, a loyal collection of friends and co-workers, and a half-dozen dogs who, admittedly, never lift a finger to help with the housework. As he regards creating the present volume a labor of love he takes great joy in his two sons, one of whom is an avid photographer and the other of which has made his study the very type of graphic design used within these pages. On occasion, Mr. Clazie teaches, and regards a few of his past and present students as "tolerable representatives of humanity."
