Over 70 photos depicting a variety of sporting endeavors and events around the globe, both professional and amateur. This volume traces the roots of the author, dating back to his first snap shot as an 11-year-old boy back in the mid-1970s.
A native of the Pacific Northwest, I first picked up a Kodak Instamatic 314 at the age of nine in my home state of Oregon. A camera has been my ticket to the world ever since. Fluent in Portuguese and Spanish, after college (BA, Political Science) and relocation abroad, I was a contractor then Senior Staff Photographer with Reuters News Pictures from 1989 to 2005. My work has been published in leading newspapers and magazines, such as LIFE, Time, Newsweek, Sports Illustrated, National Geographic, Stern and The Economist. Corporate clients include Red Bull, The Walt Disney Company, Yellow Shoes Creative Group, International Monetary Fund, McDonalds, Universal Studios, NBC/Telemundo, Children's Miracle Network Hospitals and U.S. State Department. My images have been recognized in the Pictures of the Year, POYi, Best of Photojournalism, the Alfred Eisenstaedt Awards for Magazine Photography and the Black & White Spider Awards.
