As any photographer knows, it takes time and patience to curate a substantial and refined body of work. The process can take months, often years.
And, sometimes I just need to make a book.
After travelling to both China and Japan within a year, I was struck by vast differences in the culture and aesthetics of these two neighbouring countries. Differences that experience can only begin to understand.
Chinese Sensibilities provides a snapshot of my observations while travelling in China. It focuses on texture and tactility, while also revealing a cultural colour palette, and a distinctly Chinese was of composing place and space.
The Chinese culture is seen as proud and patriotic, the Chinese people are welcoming and resilient.
