“Tall Ships” are sailing vessels that are mainly manned by a cadet crews between the ages of 15 – 25 years old. I broadened the term to include classic heritage ships and modern sailing cruise ships. The pictures in this portfolio were taken between 1974 and 2011.
James F. Olander is a photographer, author, and playwright currently living in Arlington Virginia. He has traveled to over one hundred countries and island groups worldwide, always with a camera. His career was as a Federal Administrator, but his life passions have always been history, art, photography, travel, and theatre. His writings have appeared in publications, and his pictures have been featured in publications, magazines, calendars and in exhibits in Europe, Asia and in North America. His work is now in private collections worldwide. He has been a tour guide and helped organize tours and lectures in a number of International cities.
