Every so often we come upon a place so extraordinary, so separate from the rest of the world, that it seems unreal. Arabia Felix, Yemen, is such a place. It is about the oldest inhabited area on earth. This once was a so prosperous country of large incense and spice-routes, the famous empire of the Queen of Sheba. It is still a society that preserves ways of living anchored in medieval times. There is something in this country even more valuable than the incomparable beauty of its landscapes or the fantastic architecture of its tower-houses and mosques, and that is the warmth of its people.
