About the Book
The photographs in LUMA/CHROMA are otherworldly. They evoke thoughts of the cosmic or of the quantum, the macro and the micro. They might be images of cellular life, or from the depths of the ocean, or the farthest reaches of space. But all of the photographs in this book were taken with an ordinary mobile phone camera. No effects or filters have been used, the images have not been processed in any way, they are simply the result of pointing a camera at an object and pressing a button, and they all reflect the author's fascination with the study of light and of colour.
My work blurs the boundaries between literature and visual art. Over the years I have produced collage, texts, books, sound pieces, projections and ‘found narratives’. In 2009 I obtained a Masters Degree in Fine Art from the University of the West of England where I gained a Distinction. Since then I have self-published several book works most of which are available here on blurb. My books are also available in a number of book shops including the Book Art Book Shop in London. I have book works held in the collections of the Centre for Fine Print Research in Bristol, the Tate library in Tate Britain, University College London, and the Baltic in Gateshead. In 2012 I contributed a work to the al-Mutanabbi Street project, an international touring exhibition of book artists which will eventually find a permanent home in the Iraqi National Library. And in 2014 I participated in an exhibition of UK & Russian book artists held in Moscow.
