Sceneries in display windows are a series of tableaux, all of which appear to be part of the same spectacle. A silent drama seems to unfold; mannequins, toys and curious objects make themselves noticed to the flaneur as they clamor for attention. They want something; they turn to you. In these photographs I have made myself receptive to the still life of display windows. I have tried to respond, meet the gaze, and convey the mute speech of its inhabitants.
